San Diego Gamma Knife Center was opened as a Center of Excellence in
October 1994. The Center treats patients with brain tumors, AVMs, acoustic
neuromas, essential tremors, trigeminal neuralgia and many other brain
disorders. Our patients come from Southern California, all over the United
States, and internationally.
The Center is a shared resource for the San Diego neurosurgical and radiation
oncology community. It is available to all qualified neurosurgeons and radiation
oncologists in Southern California. The Gamma Knife program replaced a linear
accelerator based radiosurgical program which began in 1991. This unit is an
integral part of the neurosciences services of Scripps Memorial Hospital La
Jolla, which provides diagnosis, treatment and support of a full range of
neurological disorders.
San Diego Gamma Knife Center is located on the campus of Scripps Memorial
Hospital at the Genesee Avenue exit off Interstate 5 in La Jolla, California
about 12 miles north of downtown San Diego. The Center is in a beautiful setting
adjacent to the University of California San Diego campus, about two miles east
of the ocean.
