Our multidisciplinary team at the San Diego Gamma
Knife Center includes a broad range of medical expertise, including
neurosurgeons, radiation oncologists, medical physicists, and nurses. The team works together to provide optimal individualized care for
each patient undergoing treatment. Each case is reviewed in a multidisciplinary
conference, and the team works together to develop the optimal treatment plan.
The patient's referring physician also is an active contributor in the
treatment process. All treatment, follow-up, progress and patient outcome
studies are done in conjunction with the patient's referring physician.

Neurosurgeons are physicians who specialize in performing surgical
treatments of the brain, and are intimately familiar with the complex anatomy, diagnostic and surgical procedures / equipment needed for the best outcome for operations involving the brain and nervous system. |
Radiation Oncologists are physicians who specialize in using
radiation to treat cancer and some benign diseases. During your
consultation, the radiation oncologist discusses treatment options and
advises on the best treatment for you. |
In
addition to your neurosurgeon and radiation oncologist, a team of medical professionals
cares for you during your therapy. A radiation nurse helps coordinate your care,
answers questions about your treatment, and helps manage side effects.
The physician positions you for your treatments and ensure the
accuracy of the radiation delivery. |
